Aerial power circuit with the advantages of reduced weight, high-current carrying capacity and increased ratio of pulling force : unit weight.

Independent Cable can supply the main aerial conductors used for electrical transmission and distribution. Either manufactured-to-quote or stocked to meet project work, the choice is yours:

• AAC – All Aluminium Conductor - Aluminium 1350
  • Water-blocking & Insulated layers also available - used for aerial circuit 6.35/11kV to 19/33kV with both XLPE and HDPE sheathing AS/NZS 3675
• AAAC – All Aluminium Alloy Conductor - Aluminium 1120
• ACSR – Aluminium Conductor Galvanized Steel Reinforced
  • Insulated & Shielded layers also available - aerial power circuit 1kV, 11kV, 33kV

AAAC to AS/NZS 1531

Aluminum alloy conductors have approximately the same ampacity and strength as their ACSR counterparts with a much improved strength-to-weight ratio and also exhibit substantially better electrical loss characteristics than their equivalent single layer ACSR constructions. The thermal coefficient of expansion is greater than that of ACSR.

AAAC aerial conductor has good corrosion resistance. It is designed for medium and long spans, can be used for LV and MV distribution networks.

Aluminium Conductor Steel Reinforced consists of a solid or stranded steel core surrounded by one or more layers of strands of 1350 aluminium. The high tensile strength of ACSR makes it ideal for overhead ground wires, long spans, hill-top to hill-top, valleys, river crossings etc
